Rahnavard, the First Iranian Woman Who Becomes Full Professor 26/5/2008 Iranian artist and researcher, Zahra Rahnavard was appointed as the first woman who became full professor at the Fine Arts Faculty of Tehran University. According to the Public Relations Office of Saba Cultural-Artistic Institute affiliated to Iran's Academy of Arts, Dr. Rahnavard, the sculptor, painter and theorist who has been an instructor at the Fine Arts Faculty of Tehran University, is the first Iranian woman to be bestowed the title. More than thirty titles of books and numerous articles on art theory, issues of women written by Rahnavard as well her academic and political articles have been published. She has also created several tableaux and sculptures. Among her most memorable artworks are the Mother Statue in Tehran’s Mohseni Square; Parand, Touba Tree, and Moon statues which have been installed at Al-Zahra University. She is currently a faculty member at Tehran university and a faculty member at Iran's Academy of Arts. It must be pointed out that some faculty members of Iran's Academy of Arts have earlier received the title of full professor.
